What the UAE Federal Tax Authority expects on a Tax Invoice

A UAE Tax Invoice is a legal document under Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017 and its Executive Regulations. Missing any mandatory particular can block your customer from recovering input VAT and expose you to administrative penalties, so DocMak validates each field before you export.

  • The words "Tax Invoice" clearly displayed
  • Supplier name, address and Tax Registration Number (TRN)
  • Recipient name, address and TRN where the recipient is registered
  • A sequential invoice number and date of issue (plus date of supply if different)
  • Description, quantity and unit price for each line, in AED
  • Tax rate, tax amount per line and total VAT payable in AED
  • Gross amount payable and any discount applied before tax

Working across mainland, free zones and designated zones

Mainland and non-designated free-zone supplies follow standard 5% VAT. Supplies of goods inside a designated zone can fall outside the scope of UAE VAT, while exports to customers outside the GCC implementing states are usually zero-rated when evidence of export is kept. DocMak lets you switch the VAT treatment per invoice and prints the correct wording on the document.

Arabic-English invoicing for UAE buyers

Government entities, banks and large corporates in Dubai and Abu Dhabi routinely ask suppliers for bilingual paperwork. Switch the editor to Arabic and DocMak flips the layout to right-to-left, renders Arabic numerals and keeps your English line descriptions alongside them so procurement teams on both sides can read the same document.
