A receipt closes the loop on a transaction. The invoice asked for the money; the receipt confirms it arrived, on what date, in what form, and against which invoice or obligation. For cash payments it is often the only record either side keeps, which is why the amount is traditionally written twice — in figures and in words — and signed by whoever accepted the money.
DocMak's receipt maker produces that document without any formatting work. Enter your business details and logo, the payer's name, the amount received, and choose the payment method — cash, bank transfer, cheque or card — with its reference number. The amount is converted into words as you type, the receipt number and date are pre-filled, and the received-by signature and stamp area is already positioned. The preview on the right is exactly what prints.
It suits any situation where money changes hands and someone needs proof: settling a customer invoice, taking a deposit or advance on an order, collecting a rent instalment, or acknowledging a refund you have paid out. Keep the tax invoice as the VAT document and use the receipt purely as evidence of settlement.

Frequently asked questions
What is a payment receipt?+
A payment receipt is written confirmation that money has actually been received. It names the payer, the amount, the date, how the money was paid — cash, bank transfer, cheque or card — and what it was for. An invoice asks for payment; a receipt proves it arrived.
What should a receipt include?+
Your business name and contact details, a sequential receipt number, the date of payment, the payer's name, the amount in figures and in words, the payment method with cheque or transfer reference, the invoice or purpose the payment settles, and the signature of the person who received it.
Why write the amount in words as well as figures?+
Because it removes any argument about a misplaced digit or a changed figure. Cash receipts in particular are routinely written in both forms, and DocMak converts the amount to words for you as you type.
Can I issue a receipt for a part payment or advance?+
Yes. Enter the amount actually received and state in the purpose field that it is an advance or a part payment against a specific invoice, so the outstanding balance stays clear to both sides.
Do I need to show VAT on a receipt?+
The VAT is charged and reported on the tax invoice, not the receipt. The receipt simply records the gross amount received. Keep the invoice as the tax document and use the receipt as proof of settlement.
Is a receipt valid without a company stamp?+
A receipt signed by an authorised person is normally accepted, but many customers and auditors across the UAE and wider GCC expect a company stamp as well. The layout leaves room for both a signature and a stamp.
Is DocMak's receipt maker free?+
Yes. Create receipts and download branded PDFs free with no signup and no watermark. An account is only needed if you want your receipt history stored.
